Thetford Mines, February 23, 2021. In order to showcase the great playground that is the Thetford region and to encourage the practice of outdoor activities, Tourisme région de Thetford is proud to launch the Winter Frenzy campaign in the Thetford region, from March 1 to 31.

Having received the title Géo Plein air no 1 in Quebec in 2011, the Thetford region wishes to promote the multitude of activities available on the territory: ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, alpine hiking, sliding and even kick sled. With its mountains, lakes and forests, the region is an ideal playground for the outdoors. And, in winter, there is no shortage of trails of all kinds to explore this beautiful and vast region.

"When you start looking at all the outdoor sites on the territory, you realize that each municipality of the Appalaches Regional County Municipality (MRC) has an outdoor offer for its population. We have everything we need to play outdoors, get moving and enjoy our vacations safely, while respecting public health guidelines. There is no reason not to enjoy it! "says Luc Rémillard, General Manager of Tourisme région de Thetford (TRT).

"Winter Frenzy" in the Thetford region is a great opportunity to encourage young people and their families, adults and seniors, to participate in physical and sports activities or to learn about them. The month of March, with its school vacations and generally milder weather, is a great time to practice outdoor activities," commented Heidi Bédard, Tourism Development Advisor at TRT.

Everyone benefits at various levels by playing outside. In addition to pleasure and personal fulfillment, physical and psychological well-being, a better quality of life and, sometimes, a closer connection with nature are added. This year is a special one for discovering or rediscovering a passion for winter sports.

The Events Management Office (EMO), wishing to contribute to the regional campaign, will make surprise visits to various sites and outdoor attractions. "The EMO is looking forward to organizing events again. We have therefore decided to collaborate on the regional promotional campaign by contributing our animation expertise," adds Vincent Vachon, coordinator of the EMO.
