Thetford Mines, March 29, 2021. Launched three years ago, the International Recruitment Gateway has already generated 71 hirings of foreign workers during some thirty recruitment interventions for fifteen different companies from the Appalaches Municipality Regional County (MRC). In all, according to Quebec International, this represents the arrival of nearly 177 new citizens in the Thetford area thanks to this permanent gateway.

"Unique in Quebec, the Gateway project aims to support companies in the Thetford region in their recruitment efforts in Europe. For example, our local job offers will be put forward with potential candidates in France," says France Vachon, project coordinator at the SDE. The latter is the gateway for businesses in the Thetford area to gain access to this recruitment project.

The Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford (SDE) is pleased to participate in this Chaudière-Appalaches Économique (CAÉ) initiative, in collaboration with the Regional Table of Municipal Elected Officials of the Chaudière-Appalachians (TREMCA) and Quebec International. As of March 12, 2021, in Chaudière-Appalaches, the gateway has allowed 156 companies to attract 658 skilled workers, or about 1,643 new arrivals in total.

"The issue of labour availability must be considered a priority despite the context of the current pandemic. Thus, it is important to ensure that regional mobilization and consultation in international recruitment are maintained," explains Luc Rémillard, Executive Director of the SDE.

"With the collaboration of its members, such as the SDE Thetford region, CAÉ helps maintain a strong international brand image and maximize the use of the promotional tools developed for the project. There is also a need to continue to work together between the education and employment sector in the development of international recruitment strategies and projects," said CAÉ's Executive Director Philippe Mailloux.

The "International Recruitment Gateway" project was made possible by the financial contribution of the Regional Outreach Fund of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to enable, among other things, businesses in the region to benefit from the expertise, support services and support of an experienced partner such as Quebec International.
