Appalaches Regional County Municipality Economic Diversification Fund: The March 31, 2023 deadline is fast approaching

THETFORD MINES, JANUARY 24, 2023. The Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford wishes to remind promoters that the deadline to obtain financial assistance from the economic diversification fund from the Appalaches Regional County Municipality is March 31, 2023. However, applications must be submitted before March 1, 2023 to be processed before the end of the program.

"Do you have a structuring investment project? Feasibility studies to be done? Product or process development? If so, the economic diversification fund from the Appalaches Regional County Municipality is available until March 31, 2023. The main objective of this program is to contribute to the economic diversification of the Appalaches Regional County Municipality," explains Vicky Lachance, Director of Business Services for the SDE region of Thetford.

More specifically, the Fund aims to:
• support the creation and start-up of new businesses;
• contribute to the expansion of existing businesses;
• encourage the implementation of structuring projects for the region;
• promote business succession and transfer projects;
• make the industrial offer of the MRC des Appalaches competitive;
• to ensure an environment conducive to economic diversification.
Three types of assistance are available: repayable contribution, loan guarantee and non-repayable contribution (grant). The financial assistance granted varies according to the nature of the project and can reach up to 25% for investment projects and 50% for studies and other types of projects.

In May 2018, the Government of Quebec confirmed the creation of the economic diversification fund of the Appalaches Regional County Municipality. With an intervention envelope of $50 million, this fund was intended to serve as an economic lever to further stimulate private investment and promote job creation.
